It is little wonder that many people are looking for golf slice correction methods. The slice is one of the most common golf problems that need attention and work on in order to eradicate it from your game.

What Is A Golf Slice?

A slice is when the ball curves to the right after your swing. Most of the time, the shot will at first look great. You feel that you connected well with the ball and probably executed a good swing. Initially, this is confirmed by the true flight path that the ball takes.

Unfortunately, the slice has a habit of rearing its ugly head only after your ball has already flown for a few seconds, with that dreaded meandering to the right. This is the classic golf slice!

Check Your Grip

A golf slice has many possible causes and one of the first places that you should check is your grip on the club. Obviously, make sure that you are using a recognised grip method. Even though you may have been enjoying a unique grip for many years, this could well be contributing to your slice and may also be hindering further development and refinement of your swing.

If your grip is too tight on your reward arm then there will be a tendency for your backswing to be too close to the vertical with the result that your downward swing will have a tendency to cross the body and therefore induce slice.

Speed Of Strike

The faster you strike the ball then the more pronounced any slight slice will be.

Remember, part of a good swing includes good rhythm. Be smooth and swift in your action - not fast and jerky.

Addressing The Ball

Another common reason for slice is simply not striking the ball properly. Though at first many beginner golfers find it difficult to consistently and accurately hit the ball, most will develop this skill sooner or later.

Now the real problem is not in reliably hitting the ball but in hitting it in the wrong place. Imagine the exact centre-line of the ball you are about to strike and aim a tiny bit below that line.

General Swing

All of the above assumes that you are making a good swing in the first place. If slice is your only problem then you may be thinking that there is actually no problem with your swing. You would probably be wrong. I suggest getting a video camera and getting someone to record your swing so that you can analyse it later. If there are obvious problems here with your swing motion then these are the most likely cause of your slice problems.
